Discovering Ribeira Sacra
One of the most delightful aspects of our work is exploring stunning vineyards around the world. Today, we're taking you to the haven of @abadiadacova in Ribeira Sacra, Spain.
Ribeira Sacra
This region encompasses 15 municipalities in the provinces of Lugo and Orense, housing 5 subzones and an impressive 50 bodegas. It's a place where indigenous grape varieties and breathtaking terroirs come together.
The Wines
From white monovarietals to robust red wines, Ribeira Sacra's wines are unique and delightful. Mencía, godello, albariño, and treixadura are among the favorites.
The Climate
A stark contrast between the two valleys, Valle del Sil and Valle del Miño, yields diverse flavor profiles in the wines.
Terroir
The vineyards, spanning 1550 hectares, are terraced on the slopes of the rivers Sil and Miño valleys. The landscape is awe-inspiring, but the harvest is as challenging as in some parts of the Mosel Valley.
Abadía da Cova
This winery is operated by a small family with a deep passion for wine. They strive for minimal intervention and the preservation of authenticity, all while respecting and protecting the environment.
